New Greens at Desert Pines Golf Club

Ever wondered what a few million dollars does in term of upgrading a golf course? Me too. I freak when I have to spend $20 for sod to patch my lawn. I spoke to the guys at Desert Pines Golf Club in Las Vegas, who did a major overhaul on their greens this past year. They literally dug up each and every green, replaced the soil with fresh, nutrient rich dirt, improved the drainage and added new bent grass putting surfaces. They also made a lot of visual enhancements to the course which is billed as the “Pinehurst of Vegas.” Yesterday the greens were rolling 10.5 and man the golf course looks terrific. If you haven’t seen it in the past few months you ought to check it out. I’m going to go buy more sod for my lawn.

Play The Best Callaway Golf Clubs at Bali Hai Golf Club

Coming to Las Vegas and want to golf but don’t want to lug your clubs? There are rental clubs at most courses. Some are OK and some are old, off-center and tired like me. One cool deal can be found at Bali Hai Golf Club. This premium daily fee course caters to the high rollers who are generally not satisfied with just any set of rental clubs. Bali Hai has the right golf amenities. and caters to these discriminating golfers, Bali Hai offers a premium rental set comprised of the Callaway X Forged irons, FT3 driver, X Tour series sand wedge and lob wedge, and the new Odyssey Black Series putter. The guys in the golf shop said many golfers rent the premium set just so they can try them out on 18 holes instead of a driving range. Renting a nice set of clubs is both much more convenient, especially if you are only in town for a few days and also gives you a chance try out clubs with a real golfing experience, on a course. Make certain you call the course if you are renting and find out what they have. Competition is pretty keen in Vegas and that means most courses have to keep up-to-date on their rentals, but better to be safe than sorry.
